Interleaved 2 of 5 Barcode Software Overview
Interleaved 2 of 5 (also referred to as USS Interleaved 2 of 5, Code 25 Interleaved, and ITF Barcode) is a high
density, numeric only barcode. Because each Interleaved 2 of 5 barcode character represents two digits,
it is a very compact barcode and ideal for numeric data. If other characters and functions are required
such as letter, tabs, returns, etc. another barcode should be considered such as
Code 39 or
Code 128.
Because Interleaved 2 of 5 barcodes encode numbers in pairs a leading zero may be required for a number
with an odd number of digits.
Interleaved 2 of 5 is a self-checking barcode type, meaning that a check character is not required
for a barcode scanner to read it, although many implementations include a check character to assure data
integrity. Like other barcodes, ITF barcodes require start and stop characters.

PrecisionID Interleaved 2 of 5 Barcode Font Contents
The PrecisionID Interleaved 2 of 5 Barcode Font Software includes
6 sizes of Windows TrueType (TTF), Binary PostScript (PFB),
and ASCII PostScript (PFA) fonts. Additionally, each
font variant is supplied in "text readable" and "barcode
only" formats where the "text readable" versions display
the barcode with the numeric characters below the barcode
and the "barcode only" versions display the barcode
without numbers. The "text readable" versions have a "T" in
the font name, i.e. PrecisionID ITF T12.
The PrecisionID Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Package also includes a
User's Guide with specifications correlating
specific fonts and point sizes with X dimensions and
printed height. The
User's Guide also includes several tutorials,
explaining in step-by-step fashion, application of PrecisonID ITF
in Excel, Word, Crystal Reports, and Access.
Most implementations of Interleaved 2 of 5 require use of a
MOD 10 check digit. For implementations requiring the
check digit, we provide
PrecisionID Font Formatting Components™ . These
components includes a Microsoft VBA module for
Microsoft Office applications and a UFL for Crystal
Reports. For other applications or languages, the source
code of these modules may be used as a guide for
conversion.
PrecisionID Interleaved 2 of 5 Font Software Compatibility
PrecisionID ITF Barcode Fonts run on all 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows including Windows 7 and
Macintosh OS X (10.1 or greater). The fonts come in Windows TrueType (TTF) fonts
as well as Binary (PFB) and ASCII (PFA) versions of PostScript fonts. For other
operating systems, consult the documentation for your operating system or software

USS Interleaved 2 of 5
USS Interleaved 2 of 5 (Uniform Symbology Specification
Interleaved 2 of 5) is the published specification for
Interleaved 2 of 5 which is published and maintained by
the Uniform
Code Council.
Special Services
Interleaved 2 of 5 is used for USPS special services
such as return receipts and delivery confirmations.
These implementations require use of the MOD 10 check
digit. See

these implementations.
GTIN and ITF-14 Barcodes
GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a 14 digit, global
identification structure in the EAN.UCC system.
Different barcode structures may be used to represent
this data including ITF-14, EAN/UPC, UCC/EAN-128, and
Reduced Space Symbology (RSS). Interleaved 2 of 5
may be used to create ITF-14 compliant barcodes. ITF-14
barcodes are typically used for shipping units of
corrugated packaging. For more information on
formatting requirements for these barcodes, contact the
Uniform
Code Council.
Identcode and Leitcode Symbols
Interleaved 2 of 5 may be used to create Identcode and
Leitcode symbols used by the German Post. Identcode and
Leitcode symbols require a MOD 10 check digit; however,
it is calculated slightly different than the USS
Interleaved 2 of 5 MOD 10 check. For Identcode and
Leitcode the check is calculated by multiplying the sum
of the even digits by 9 and multiplying the sum of the
odd digits by 4; adding these two number together and
dividing by 10. The remainder from this division is the
check. Contact the German Post for more details
and specifications.
