OCR
Fonts (Optical Character Recognition) are used where
automated systems need standard character shapes to
facilitate reading the text and numbers. These were
developed in the 1960's and 1970's to help banks, credit
card companies, and other similar companies process
documents. The two primary standards are OCR-A and
OCR-B. OCR-A is generally easier for a machine to
read and a little more difficult for a person.
OCR-B is generally easier for a person to read, but a
little more difficult for a machine.
